While most of Cleveland watched from the friendly confines of the couch, photographer Walter Novak strapped on his Nikon and some snow shoes and set out for the Wolstein Center, to capture images from last night's debate between Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Tim Russert, who was, it turned out, the bitchiest in the bunch. To see the pictures, visit clevescene.com/slideshow.

Singer-songwriter Jason Isbell imported some southern love to the Beachland Ballroom last weekend. His former-fellow Truckers weren't there, but Scene photog Walter Novak was there, powered by 14 Dortmunders and a lens the size of Hyundai. Check out the resulting photographs and other slideshows at clevescene.com/slideshow -- Joe P. Tone

Matchbox 20 and Alanis Morissette rocked Quicken Loans Arena last night, and Scene photog Walter Novak braved the sea of rockin' moms to collect these shots of performers and fans alike. Missed the show? This is as close as you'll get to the front row. -- Joe P. Tone

Marilyn Manson fans mug for the camera at Friday's show at House of Blues Cleveland.
If you believe our critic, Marilyn Manson's most recent record, Eat Me, Drink Me, has pushed the shock rocker into full parody mode. But either way, he sold out the House of Blues on Friday, and drew a collection of creatively attired fans that made for one hell of a photo-op. Thankfully, a little white makeup and devil horns couldn't scare off Action Rock Photographer Walter Novak, who captured the scene in this week's slide show. Enjoy. -- Joe P. Tone

Walter Novak captured Band of Horses in action at the Beachland Friday.
Friday's Band of Horses show at the Beachland was sold out. But thankfully the Beachland staff mistook Scene music editor Michael Gallucci and photographer Walter Novak as Guys With Important Stuff To Do, and let them both partake in the evening's festivities. Gallucci gave his take on the show yesterday. And today, we present to you a slide show of the concert from Novak. Enjoy. And next time around, check our weekly concert announcements to make sure you snag those tickets early. -- Joe P. Tone

Rest assured that Walter Novak, our Action Rock Photographer, sweat the sweat of 1,000 child laborers, or at least one Martina Hingis, to capture these photos of Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, and that 22-year-old woman you've been seeing, who, although she claimed to have dinner plans with her mother, seems to be puking herself in Picture 7. Might be time to have that chat. -- Joe P. Tone

Seriously, dude, where are the face-painted deviants?
Two slide shows in one day! Action Rock Photographer Walter Novak cannot be stopped. This time, our death-defying man on the scene boozed and bruised his way to the sweaty, blood-soaked mosh-pit of … the Lake Erie shore? At sunset?
What the hell?
Has our hero of Rock and Roll Photography gone soft? You be the judge. Check out his new slide show, which, I must admit, is quite delightful. – Joe P. Tone

Weren’t able to make it to the Police show? Couldn’t adequately see Sting’s bulge from the cheap seats? As usual, we’ve got you covered. Action Rock Photographer Walter Novak took his sharp elbows and Hubble-sized lens to places no crazy Czech photog has gone before, and he has the pictures to prove it in his latest Action Rock Slideshow. Check it out. -- Joe P. Tone

For years, crack dealers posted up on corners in the St.Clair-Superior neighborhood selling their product ["The Crackdown," June 13]. It was a neighborhood overrun with junkies, hustlers and members of a gang called the 7-All.
Money from the street-level sales worked its way up to the top suppliers. That network was dismantled after a two-year investigation to take down the 7-All. By the time it was through, the feds captured more than 50 dealers on videotape.

With 2006's Loose, Nelly Furtado transformed herself from a folk-pop nymph into a sexually charged diva, one who even croons in Portuguese. On June 9, Clevelanders were able to experience Furtado's radical new look and sound when her summer tour stopped by the Time Warner Amphitheater.

Sporting Mexican wrestler masks, Nashville's los Straitjackets are literally one of rock's most colorful bands. On Saturday, April 28, the quirky garage-rockers performed a benefit concert for the little ones at the Beachland Ballroom. A portion of the proceeds went to Arts Collinwood.

Last weekend, one of Cleveland's more precious and successful rock acts from the '70s, Molkie Cole, revived its legendary stage show for a two-night engagement at the Winchester. Specializing in a theatrical blend of glam, progressive rock, and Beatles-inspired pop, the Cole performed before sold out audiences both nights.
