  • Mic Check: Kid Rock at the Q on Saturday

    Thu May 15, 2008 at 11:04:40 AM

Kid Rock has pretty much covered every corner of popular music. Hip-hop, country, pop, southern rock – the dude’s done ’em all. Whether you’re a Confederate flag-waving hillbilly or a white kid in the suburbs looking for a little street cred with your homies, chances are pretty good that Rock at one time or another has been a soundtrack of your life.

His latest CD, Rock and Roll Jesus, is all over the place -- perfect for wandering ears used to iPod’s shuffle feature. It’s also a pretty shrewd set-up since, really, who wants to hear Rock playing Skynyrd for two songs in a row? Or Run-DMC? Or even Toby Keith? Stick around long enough, and you’ll find something you like ...

You can pretty much expect that same sentiment at Rock’s concert at the Q on Saturday. He’s even bringing along Run-DMC’s Reverend Run and the J. Geils Band’s Peter Wolf to bring in some fans who might think he’s not black or soulful enough. --Michael Gallucci

Kid Rock plays Quicken Loans Arena, One Center Court, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 17. Tickets range from $9.99 to $69.50, available by calling 216-241-5555.
