  • 'Shine a Light,' Scorscese’s Stones concert flick, to show at Akron’s Civic Theatre

    Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 12:49:33 PM

    Shine A Light
, the new Rolling Stones concert film/documentary by Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese, opens Wednesday, April 2. The two-hour flick is getting solid reviews. Scorsese used 22 top cinematographers to shoot the show, and the movie includes a cameo by President Clinton and a performance by Jack White. Granted, the band has seen better days, and long ago at that. But damned if the trailer (above) doesn’t make the Brits look pretty good.

It’s showing in theaters and Imax screens, but the absolute coolest place to check it out is in Akron’s roccocco Civic Theatre (182 S. Main St., 330-535-3179), the ornate old-school venue that’s so classy it spells “theater” with the E and R reversed at the end. The Civic will host a special screening 5 p.m. Sunday April 6; tickets are $10, and available in advance at Ticketmaster outlets. Click here for Cleveland showtimes.
