  • Robert Plant and Alison Kraus to play Tower City

    Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 08:01:09 AM

The bad news is: Led Zeppelin isn't reuniting for a tour this summer. If it's any consolation, Robert Plant is still hitting the road, in the company of Alison Kraus, performing songs from their rootsy, transcendent new collaboration, Raising Sand. T Bone Burnett, the performer/behind-the-scenes whiz who helped put together the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, will lead the band, which will back the singers for songs from the album and their previous careers. ...

The tour comes to Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City July 15, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 to $89.50, via LiveNation.com and Ticketmaster outlets; call 216-241-5555 or 330-945-9400. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, April 18.

If you haven't heard the disc, it's worth checking out. It's far removed from Zep, and much closer to the world music Plant has explored in his solo tunes and the Unleaded album with Jimmy Page. Give it half a chance, it'll mesmerize you into forgetting about Zeppelin for a little while. Click the video above for "The Letter." Rolling Stone gave it 3 1/2 stars, but Rolling Stone gives pretty much everything 3 1/2 stars. Check out a review here. -- D.X. Ferris
