  • Mic Check: Feist at the Palace Theatre on Wednesday

    Feist: Canadian.

Feist is so Canadian . Everything about her – the quirky videos, the one-off collaborations, the chamber-pop-collective affiliation – says, “I’m from up north, eh?” ...

Last year’s The Reminder pulled Leslie Feist from Broken Social Scene anonymity and shoved her into Starbucks/iPod/what-have-you ubiquity. She’s like a hipster version of Norah Jones – a cool kid who makes sleepy-time music with just this much edge.

She sticks to the basics in concert. Nothing fancy for Feist. But she’s also a pro (settling into BSS’ dozens-of-members collective tends to do that to an artist), so you’ll get the hits – “1234,” “My Moon My Man” – as well as a few obscurities. Just to please the hipsters, you know. --Michael Gallucci

Feist performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Palace Theatre, 1519 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $30 and $35, available by calling 216-241-6000. For a preview, listen to “Gatekeeper” below.
